Looking for the perfect venue for your next event or production? When not in use for our dynamic programming, Definition Theatre (1160 E 55th St) is available to host your next rehearsal, performance, event, or gathering. To start the rental process, please complete our Rentals Inquiry Form. Keep in mind that your reservation will only be confirmed once a contract is signed and the deposit is received.   • Parking & Transportation

    Parking is free along both 55th Street and S Woodlawn Avenue. We encourage all visitors of Definition to allow ample time to find street parking.

    Definition is a 15 minute walk from the 55/56/57 Metra stop.

    If arriving from the Garfield Green Line, take the 55 bus Eastbound toward MSI.

    Please know Definition does not operate its own parking facility, nor does it validate for any nearby parking structures.

  • Common Event Rental Questions

    Definition Theatre is a Non-Smoking facility.

    All facilities are ADA accessible.

    Food/Drink is not allowed for private events, but not public performances.

    Alcohol cannot be sold on facility premise.

    Definition does not provide a ticketing platform or front of house staff to rentals.

    All deliveries and pick-ups must be made through the back door in the alley.

    The outdoor patio space is not currently available for rentals.
