Definition’s educational programming is centered around making the arts accessible to the next generation on and off the stage. Curriculum is designed to increase empathy and the art of collaboration while learning to appreciate diversity of approach, style, and perspective. Definition offers various engagement opportunities through workshops, mentoring, and job shadowing throughout each season. By Design Apprenticeship
HIGH SCHOOL + COLLEGE
The By Design apprenticeship caters to students currently in or recently graduated from high school and college. The 8-9 month paid program provides opportunity to shadow production staff during Definition’s annual season. Apprentices experience the creative process of a production from inception to execution. Applications open each Winter for the following year’s season.

In Discovery Series
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The In Discovery series provides recurring and one-time educational workshops for students currently in middle school. Workshops and class series are often introductory and cater to a wide-range of students looking to gain a better understanding of theatre from perspectives of both on and off the stage. In Discovery is currently offered on a intermittent basis throughout the year.

Wadsworth Elementary Bi-Annual Donation
Definition is proud to support Wadsworth Elementary in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Each year Definition provides supplies and gifts to the students of Wadsworth via a Back-to-School Backpack donation each August and Holiday Gift Giveaway each December.
As part of our core values of uplifting community, Definition aims to directly support our community’s youth with these annual campaigns. Our mission is to bring joy to children on the side of the city where young people are often overlooked— ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued.
